Caulking is a term used to describe several different processes to seal the joints or seams in various structures and certain types of piping. The same term also refers to the application of flexible sealing compounds to close up gaps in building and other structures against water, air, dust, and insects or as component in fire stopping. Caulk (calk) can refer either to the caulking substance or to the process of applying it.
