What is Drum Sanders
Many of us may not have even heard of a drum sander leave alone knowing what its used for. For the uninitiated, a drum sander is an innovative piece of technology that is used in wood work and automotive jobs to scrape clean and provide smoother finish to surfaces.

A drum sander is a pretty basic machine. A sandpaper conveyor belt moves the wood under a spinning cylinder/drum that is covered in replaceable sand paper. Tensioned rollers keep the wood pressed down on the conveyor so it doesn't slip. The drum can be moved up and down to apply the proper sanding depth.

Drum sanders come in all sizes from big to small. They help in cutting down all kinds of sanding jobs by nearly 75 percent. Mechanical sanding done by drum sanders creates smooth finishes on wood work surfaces and products. Open-ended drum sanders allow you to quickly sand materials up to 32 inches wide with just two passes through the machine.

These appliances are heavy duty work horses for all sanding requirements. The drums operate at incredible speed while the feed can adjust infinitely between 0 and 10 feet per minute. Special spring clips hold the end of the sandpaper roll used for sanding that can be quickly and easily changed.

From burly sturdy machines to hand held devices, sanders come in a range of sizes and types. Using this tool instead of planers helps in finishing off surface improvement tasks very quickly. This tool is a dream for small commercial shops or woodwork DIYs for a range of applications.
